If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles ~ Sun Tzu TL DR, I don't think the gun doesn't do enough damage to justify its limitations and am wondering what the rest of you think. If the Thumper could be removed it would be one thing, but a fixed piece of equipment that weighs as much as this cannon does should either be more powerful, or have more ammo. but by the time you get the Bull Shark you'll mostly be fighting assaults and high end heavies. If I'm fighting anything lighter than 55 tons, the Thumper can do a respectable amount of damage and leave the surviving targets weak for the rest of my lance next phase. Additionally (and understandably), you can't fire your other weapons when you fire the Thumper, which precludes me from using my ~440 point alpha on whatever unfortunate mechwarriors are deployed against me. It takes up 10 tons and most of the right side of the mech, the damage can be devastating but on average only does about 20-30 damage to most locations with a few hits going higher and lower, you only get 2 shots, it has a 1 turn cooldown in between each usage, and it's an incredibly situational weapon that's only really effective if the AI bunches up closely enough for you to hit more than one or two targets with one shot. Is it just me, or does the Thumper cannon on the Bull Shark feel kind of underwhelming for its restrictions? Being able to fire into the fog of war and hit multiple mechs with a single shot is great, but for the drawbacks I'd rather have more heatsinks or some LRMs.
